Looks guys, friends, I don’t care if you’re one of those ‘ugh, politics’ types. I don’t care what party you are. THIS IS HORRENDOUS. This is frightening. This is a trespass upon our rights we’ve hardly EVER seen before. This is not that ‘shut down the internet’ bill or whatever.
This is SO much bigger than that. These are your rights. See them? Watch them fly right out the window if this is made law. Think it won’t apply to you? Won’t ever happen to you? It could. It could happen to people you know, your friends, anyone and everyone. Detained without cause, tortured, no right to due process, no innocent until proven guilty, NOTHING. The military can just take you or whoever they want the fuck away and you will never see them again. And there is nothing to be done.
And let’s add to this the media black out that HAS BEEN and IS happening to cover this up. You should care. My friends in other countries, you could care too because you’d better believe somewhere down the road this will affect you in some way, shape or form.
This won’t go away if you scroll past this post and ignore me. It will go into law and this will be a reality the likes of which we’ve rarely seen in this country. Does this stuff happen? Highly likely. But this makes it permissible. The only way to even ATTEMPT to do something about it is to be aware. Say something, reblog it, spread it all over your social networking sights. Your fandoms don’t matter, your graphics don’t matter. THIS matters. Because if shit like this keeps passing without our opposition, we won’t have the right to oppose it without fear of incarceration or punishment. PLEASE. Take a minute and care about what’s happening in your country.One thing I really appreciate about America is their history of standing up for their rights. This is an insane violation of our rights. Our freedom of speech is being tested, STAND UP FOR YOUR RIGHTS, or else you will lose it. We are the only nation with this precious right to speak out minds freely without going to prison. This will take that away from us.
Think about it— the internet is full of valuable information that can’t be accessed through television. TV does not have the same freedom— it is filtered. Most of the shocking things I learn are from news in different countries that they DON’T say on American mainstream media— and i find these on the internet. If they take away internet freedom— they take away our right to knowledge. Everything will be filtered.
This article even shows an example of it: only one cable network mentioned this, and not even in full detail. We won’t be able to trust what we hear or see. And how did I learn about this? Through the internet.
Americans don’t know what it’s like to have their freedom of speech and thought to be taken away— and I hope they don’t let it happen. It is something truly valuable, something that took years to achieve.
